We are looking for a dynamic game changer to join a newly structured team of professionals who will be delivering innovative actions from the Economic Development Strategy. Use your strategic acumen and relationship development skills in this role  to drive progress within the Manningham business community.   • Design and deliver innovative projects from the Economic Development Strategy.
  • Establish and develop trader groups providing expert advice and guidance to build their governance and operational capabilities.
  • Build operational partnerships between Council and local businesses, trader groups, and activity centre users to develop vibrant places for people to visit and shop.
  • Identify opportunities for the establishment of social enterprises.

About the Role

The Economic Development Officer is new addition to the new Economic Development team. A strong strategic understanding coupled with a proactive operational approach will provide professional fulfillment as innovative projects are designed and delivered within the local community. The role will work directly with internal departments providing vital connections to ensure cross Council collaboration delivers shared outcomes. An important role and great opportunity to take responsibility for project design and delivery across both the business sector and the wider community.

Skills and Experience

  • Strong understanding of economic principles with a track record of applying these to a practical setting with demonstrated outcomes.
  • A keen understanding of inclusion and a commitment to meeting current and future business and community needs.
  • Strong engagement skills and the ability to influence and collaborate with stakeholders to enable the development of long term sustainable partnerships.
  • A commitment to excellent customer service principles.
  • A positive mindset and  a desire to make a difference through continuous improvement.
  • Hold a tertiary or post-graduate qualification and/or job related experience.
