Following the introduction of a new structure that prioritises community participation in areas such as sport, recreation, kindergartens, libraries and community hubs, this is one of three exciting leadership roles in the new Community Participation team. - Lead the Community Projects and Planning Team and assist them to be a high performing team.
- Lead the planning and development of projects to support community infrastructure such as Master Plans, the Active for Life Strategy, Early Years Plan, Library Plan and the Community Infrastructure Plan.
- Develop feasibility and other information to assist in planning significant community hub developments and infrastructure projects.
- Analyse community and other data to support a range of Council capital projects to improve community participation.
- Advocate and prepare submissions to secure funding and outcomes in response to emerging issues and deficits in the community.
- Be a problem solver to bring innovation and fresh thinking to project planning and development.

About the Role
The Coordinator Community Projects and Planning is a critical role in the new Community Participation team. Working directly with external and internal stakeholders, no two days are ever the same. With a strong network of sporting and community groups across the municipality, the role is pivotal to the development of policy directions, strategies and facilities planning - as well as providing expert advice - to shape Council’s future directions.
Skills and Experience
- Well-developed leadership skills and the ability to drive a team culture of collaborative work performance.
- A keen understanding of inclusion and a commitment to meeting current and future community needs.
- Strong engagement skills and the ability to influence and collaborate with stakeholders including consultants, community groups, peak bodies and industry experts.
- A strategic mindset as well and an understanding of the operational aspects of Council run community facilities.
- A commitment to the development of community participation models.
- Contract management experience and the ability to develop strong and effective partnerships with stakeholders to benefit the Manningham community.
