Lead the Social Planning & Community Strengthening team in delivering an innovative spectrum of community development initiatives and strategic social policy platforms. About the Role
This role will provide visionary leadership of the Social Planning & Community Strengthening team. Best practice in social planning and community development will be utilised, in concert with robust project management and accountability. Innovative strategies and initiatives will be developed and implemented to increase access, inclusion, equality and celebrate diversity, responsive to the Council Plan and Health & Wellbeing Strategy. Strong stakeholder engagement will be drawn upon, working closely with key community leaders; together with proactive internal advocacy to extend understanding of key strategies and plans for which Social Planning & Community Strengthening is responsible for.
Skills and Experience
- Tertiary qualified in social science, community development, health or other relevant field.
- An experienced professional in social planning and/or community development, in a local government context.
- Strong leadership experience and skills, with the ability to lead a diverse service area and multiple reports with accountability.
- Strong project management skills and experience, particularly relevant to the development of strategies and the delivery of projects.
- Strong and intuitive strategic thinking and foresight, alongside robust stakeholder management skills and experience.
- Ability to instil and lead a community development practice model with high quality outcomes.
