Reporting to the ‘Senior Parks Officer - Open Space & Bushland’ this newly created position will provide the successful applicant a unique opportunity to work across Manningham’s entire open space network. You will influence change from both an amenity and conservation perspective. You will have the opportunity to work with and lead internal staff and contractors by utilising your strong knowledge of bushland management to implement Manningham’s newly developed bushland maintenance contract. This is a rare opportunity to expand your skills and knowledge in a friendly and supportive local government Parks team.
Who are you?
- An experienced open space professional with knowledge and skills relevant to bushland maintenance, fire mitigation and staff management.
- Experienced in the supervision of staff and contractors with an understanding of the required skills, plant and materials needed to effectively achieve the key requirements of this position.
- You have a history of working in bushland and/or open space teams and the ability to implement these skills on the ground.
- You possess the ability to communicate effectively and liaise with council staff, contractors, friends groups, park users, residents and the general public.
- You have demonstrated knowledge and experience in conservation practices with a vision to protect and enhance the natural environment.
You have a strong customer focus and are an excellent communicator.
