  • Permanent Part time, 0.6 FTE position
  • Salary $72,940 + 10% Superannuation (pro rata)
  • Based at Manningham Civic Centre Doncaster

Exciting opportunity to join a collaborative and customer focused team, playing a vital role using and developing your skills and knowledge of the Infringement Review process. You are required to work within the legislative framework, and encouraged to develop and implement continuous improvement strategies to succeed in this dynamic, pivotal and often complex role within Council.

About the Role

As an infringement review officer you will use your excellent judgement, and legislative knowledge and experience to consider each case on its own merit. You will be required to be transparent in your undertakings and be able to make fair and equitable decisions relating to infringement appeals whilst adhering to the required legal processes and practices. 

You must be able to:

  • Undertake timely and accurate assessment of applications for a review of a decision to issue an infringement notice by Council’s Compliance Officers.
  • Demonstrate your ability to make fair and impartial judgments working within the legislative framework.
  • Demonstrate a high level of resilience when reinforcing the law and Council policies within the context of the issuing of infringement notices.

 Skills and Experience

  • Experience in exercising appropriate discretion with regards to Acts and legislation, Acts or local laws, or proven ability to quickly develop the knowledge required.
  • A good understanding of legal practices as relevant to infringements/Court processes or willingness to develop knowledge as required.
  • Have attention to detail and have excellent time management skills in order to meet strict legislative deadlines.
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills.
  • Offer clear and concise advice to customers relating to infringement matters.
  • Remain impartial and transparent when dealing with customers around decision making and processes.
  • Ability to prioritise workload.
