Exciting opportunity for an economic development professional to apply their specialist knowledge of small business operations and retail to support the community in a local government context.
- Provide support and deliver a range of initiatives across multiple business sectors including retail activity centres.
- Work effectively and collaboratively with multiple internal and external stakeholders in relation to small business/retail to achieve Manningham objectives.
- Provide advice to Council on issues relevant to small business and retail in Manningham and broader industry trends.

About the Role
The Business and Retail Liaison Officer will provide a vital source of outreach and connection between local traders and Council. By proactively engaging with small business across multiple sectors including retail, home-based business, and professional services, the Officer will provide support with:
- the rebuilding of the business sector as a result of the effects of COVID-19;
- the developing of strong partnerships with retail traders and business leaders to represent Council’s interests; and
- access to opportunities for business training and development.
Skills and Experience
- Tertiary qualified in economic development, business development or relevant discipline.
- An economic development professional with specialist knowledge of small business operations and retail in a local government context.
- Solutions focused with proven ability to problem solve complex issues, with attention to building strong collaborative relationships.
- Skilled and experienced in placemaking practice and retail activity centre place activation.
- Skilled in time management with the ability to work both autonomously, and collaboratively with colleagues and community.
- An experienced listener, with high level skills in stakeholder management, communication and customer service, with empathy and understanding.
