Exciting opportunity to use your key construction management and engineering skills to help deliver complex civil projects for the Manningham community. This role plays a vital role in procuring and managing civil infrastructure projects from road reconstructions to easement drainage works with everything in between. You’ll join a collaborative and people focused team that are all able to assist your growth.

Working From Home, Site and the office

Manningham Council have a number of policies and practices to help support our staff, including a Working from Home policy, flexible work practices and an IT infrastructure to support various communication methods when working remotely and out in the field.

About the Role

This position is responsible for the administration and implementation of the construction contracts for  Manningham and assisting junior staff manage their projects. This is achieved through tendering, assessment and selection of suitable contractors then and on-going project management to safely build works to meet the design and ultimately the needs of the community. Often, you’ll be required to think on your feet and adapt to changing conditions- be that weather, politics or soil, amongst others, to ensure works get delivered to a high standard.

Skills and Experience

  • Ability to interpret civil infrastructure plans and related documentation;
  • Strong flexible communication skills, including the ability to use persuasive language to discuss issues with stakeholders to achieve positive construction outcomes and to be able to manage sites to ensure good safe project outcomes;
  • Use judgement to assess construction plans and on-site works in accordance with sound engineering principles
  • Proven ability to manage multiple work flows at once with strong time management skills;
  • Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering or Construction management (with the ability to be registered as an Engineer, highly favoured)
  • Drivers license valid in Victoria
